Yay! We are finally home. Spencer was so happy to see us and we were all so happy to see him!
Now… I guess I’m going to have to tell the kids. ugh. I dread it. But I’m just going to stress to them that we are going to keep doing what we can to keep Spencer as happy and healthy as possible and that we are going to enjoy every day we have with him. I think that they are going to be excited to get pictures with him at our upcoming family photo shoot with Melissa Palomo. I can already hear my 5 year old, “Mommy, will you get that one printed just for me for my room???”
Oh, and since we have been out of town I still haven’t gotten the tree down at the cabin. I have decided that I’m trying that picture again, this time with Spencer in it!!
I’ll bet Spencer was super happy to see you.
That photoshoot will be wonderful, and I’m sure the pictures will be very special. Those pictures and memories will be what makes Spencer live on long after his body gives out.
All our best wishes to you….
Micki and Rio
We’ve posted about some books that may help children cope with canine cancer or pet loss in the Tripawds Amazon blog. Give Spencer a good belly rub for us!
Thanks so much for that link! I’m going to check it out. They were pretty upset when I told them; but are all making him a poster right now.
Oh, that is sweet that they are making him a poster. Even if Spencer’s life will not have quantity, it’s definitely got quality! Same as Abby. 🙂

I bet Spencer is so very happy to have everyone home with him. I know how hard it is to break the news to your kids. When I told my kids it was very hard. My 4.5 year old understood, but the 2.5 year old didn’t. Noah still draws pictures of Chili when he misses him, & prays that Jesus is taking good care of him until we get to Heaven. It’s hard, but it sounds like you are doing a great job with them. Give Spencer a belly rub from us, & sending you hugs!

One thing that we did when their cat died last year is they each made “Timmie boxes” – they have fur clippings in there, the little ceramic paw prints, pictures they draw of him, letters they write to him. We talked tonight about going ahead and making “Spencer boxes” too, so that they can start putting all of their stuff in there – pictures that we get printed, the different pictures they draw of him… They liked that idea.
Hi and thanks for hanivg this website. Jack had her left rear leg amputated 11/20/2009 because we suspected she had Osteosarcoma. We didn’t do the biopsy because she was in too much pain so we changed the surgury from a biopsy to an amputation. THANK GOD we did. She had to heal for a couple weeks but boy after those sutures came out was she back to her old self. The relief from her pain was amazing. I was hoping that this would have stopped the cancer and we have done three treatments of Chemo but learned it has spread to her hip and other leg. That was way too fast for me but we’re getting through it. We start radiation Monday, hopefully that will help with the pain.
